Alan Lawson was born on 3rd October 1942, only child of Charles & Mary (known as Molly) Lawson in Ashington Northumberland.  A recent story he told was how his Grandfather raced Greyhounds and there was one particular one kept as a pet. Sadly I don't recall it's name but the Dog was a bit of a character and took itself off on walks with no assistance and everyday would trot down to school gates to meet Alan from school, as he remarked most other kids had their Parents meeting them !!

Alan worked in the Mine as an Electrician, following in his Father's footsteps who was a Miner.  Alan was also in the Merchant Navy, and often told stories of his Travel's round the world, as we joked just like Uncle Albert !! He also worked in the Dockyards as an Electrician and regaled the story of how he was worked on the build of HMS Sheffield, and the part of the ship that was hit by the Missile which sunk it during the Falklands War was the area he worked in.  He then headed south and did his Teacher training at Hatfield Polytechnic, now known as University of Hertfordshire.  He worked in Welwyn Garden City where he met our Mother Mary.  They ended up working near each other as Alan lectured as Kilburn Polytechnic and Mother taught at the Police College in Hendon.  Alan and Mother married on 31st August 1976 and set up home in St.Albans.  St.albans was home for a number of years and Alan set up a small Hotel after finishing his Teaching Career.  He also dabbled in Property buying, renting etc.  After a turbulent time with the Hotel and some of Mother's Health problems, the 80's Property crash, Mother and Alan moved to Eastbourne and settled there in 1992.  They lived there happily and had many years enjoying Family visits, mainly the 1st Grandchild Allan, during Summer Holidays.

Alan also took it upon himself after moving to Eastbourne to write Math's Textbooks, used in Schools and such like for many years.  He also did tutoring in Maths.  His love of Numbers stayed with him until the end !  Alan spent the last few years caring for our Mother and she could not of had a more devoted and caring Husband.  During her numerous stays in a variety of Hospitals he went to see her everyday, however near and far she was.  We had to make the decision for Mother to go into a Nursing Home after a Stroke left her with disabilities he could not manage.  Alan struggled with making that decision but it was the right thing to do and he continued to visit her everyday, ignoring his own Health issues.  After another Stroke Mary, our Mother and Alan's wife of over 40 years, died on his Birthday in 2016.  Alan missed her desperately and finally all his Health problems caught up with him, he'd ignored them for too long.  Sadly after being diagnosed with Cancer he just gave up.  Everyone tried to stop him from being lonely but I guess he found it too hard.

We all have lots of Happy Memories with Alan, also some not so happy.  I think it must of been very challenging taking on 3 Step Children and I can appreciate now how difficult it must of been at times, I think we all do !  But I have to Thank Alan for putting up with us and for the devotion and love he had with our Mother was out of this world.

I hope there is an afterlife and they are up there Reunited enjoying each other again, with other, sadly passed, Family, Friends and Pets.

We love you Alan and miss you so much, may you Rest in Peace.
